Question: What’s the secret to having the relationship with alcohol that lets you do what you want and go where you want without worrying if there will be wine available?

Answer: Deciding.

Of course, there’s a lot of strategy and work that comes after deciding — but this is STEP ONE and sooo foundational and important to your success!

​The people who haven’t decided that their success is a done deal are the people who never make it out of the gate.​

I see this again and again.

They rely on "motivation" and pep talks to take action, and then when life gets hard they give up. Why? Because they haven’t yet decided.

And I mean really decided.

To go all in, however deprived and difficult it might feel at first. Even when your friend Emily won't let up with the cocktails.

But it does get easier, I promise.​

​A decision is a shift in reality. It’s a commitment to change. And a call to rise up.​

Without this rock-solid intention that YES YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL, your actions are never going to back it up — and that is the difference-maker.

Just think about it.

How many times were you "feeling good" only to doubt yourself as soon as it felt hard?

So you stumbled...

Before giving up on yourself.

I’m not here to motivate you, I’m here to inspire you to rise up and decide to claim your spot in your life.

​Because I know that once the intention is there, the actions will follow.​

Even if you don't feel like it. Even if you're tired. Even if the cool wine would go down so easily.

Once the intention is there you see just what you're capable of.

You won't mind going alcohol free with Brad because you're looking forward to catching up with him, not drinking. You won't mind swapping water for beer at the concert, saving your wallet in the process. You won't mind saying no to the second glass of red at Sunday lunch because the first was enough.

And if you see others drinking, you'll have decided how to handle this.

So instead of saying "I wish I was drinking now," or "they'll regret it in the morning," you will focus on your enjoyment. Maybe it’s the food on your plate, the company you’re with, or your surroundings. Fixating on someone else’s enjoyment only blocks your own. And trying to motivate yourself by focusing on someone else’s suffering always backfires. Even if they wake up hungover, it doesn't change your belief that things are more fun with a drink

Yeah it might feel scary at first, but you’re going to keep going and do it anyway because the decision has already been made.

​Motivation is negotiable. A decision is not.​

That doesn't mean you can't have a bad day (or even a bad week) and stumble once in a while. But you pick yourself back up and you KEEP GOING.
